This is a fun basic Learn to Dinghy Sail course for adults and teens held over two consecutive Saturdays

Saturday 13th and 20th of June 9 am - 4 pm. Each day will include both theory and practical learning sessions.   

Students are encouraged to utilize their 3-month membership to participate in regular Sunday morning sailing.

The course cost is $400, including 3 months free Club membership, which enables students to hire club boats on Sundays to practice the skills they have learned and join in all club activities.  The course fee also includes free registration for up to 3 Sunday sessions, Club Boat Challenges or Adventure Sails in that 3 month period.

This course is open to participants from 13 to 99 years old!  10% discount for families, we accept Fair Play vouchers - please enquire before registering,

Please Note:     

• If you do not have an existing Australian Sailing Number - please select SIGN UP - then select Full membership (event/course participant $0) This will activate your introductory membership to TSC and generate an Australian Sailing number.
• The following personal equipment is highly recommended:  Stinger protection (such as long sleaves, leggings or stinger suit), hat, foot protection for on and off the water, sun glasses, towel, change of clothes 
• Please note refunds will incur a 10% fee
• Minimum and Maximum participants apply.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate. 

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
