This is a fun basic Learn to Dinghy Sail course held over three days for adults and teens.  

The first Day is Saturday, June 15, 8.30 am - 4.00 pm, including both theory and practical learning sessions.   

The final 2 days are held over the following 2 consecutive Sunday mornings June 16 and 23rd, 8.30 am -12 noon, please ensure you can make all 3 sessions. 

Post-course students are encouraged to utilize their 3-month membership to participate in regular Sunday morning sailing.

The course cost is $350, including membership, which enables students to hire club boats on Sundays to practice the skills they have learned plus a complimentary Sunday boat hire.

Course Overview

This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate. 

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
